Anxiety

What is Anxiety?

It can look different from person to person. In the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM), in order to be diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, you must experience uncontrollable worry for more days than not for at least 6 months and have at least 3 of the following:

  • Feeling tired easily

  • Trouble concentrating or feeling like your mind goes blank

  • Feeling irritable

  • Feeling restless or on edge

  • Muscle tension

  • Difficulty falling or staying asleep or sleep that doesn’t feel restful

You may not have all of the criteria listed above, but your are noticing the anxiety is starting to negatively impact your life (e.g., relationships, sleep, etc.). The good news is that there are a lot of strategies that can decrease anxiety!
